The Saint Gerard Society (SGS) of the Diocese of Saginaw was started in Saginaw during 2016, to award tuition assistance to students of all faiths who attend Saginaw Diocese Catholic Schools. During its first year, SGS raised over $90,000.00, from 47 members coupled with many donations. One hundred percent of the money raised has been designated for tuition assistance scholarships. All overhead expenses for operations have been donated by members.

For the 2017-2018 school year, SGS awarded 43 scholarships, totaling $47,000.00, to students to attend Saginaw Area Catholic Schools
